We are so thrilled to share the results of our inaugural #Go50forALS movement challenge, which took place in early May. Movement challenges and community classes continued throughout the month of May, as did your support of the Hummingbird Fund, so we are just now wrapping up the challenge and tallying the results of your generosity.
In total, more than 500 direct supporters (team members and leaders, sponsors, donors, kids, family members, and others) participated in the #Go50forALS challenge! This includes folks who completed a movement challenge, those who gave in some way, and those who showed up to our May 11 culmination event at Starr Hill Brewery.
We engaged with hundreds of community members through movement events like the Ragged Mountain Running Shop track workout on Wednesday, May 8, and group fitness classes at numerous local studios. Teams locally and across the U.S. completed movement challenges of all types, including some very creative ventures: selling lemonade, canoeing, biking, running, hiking, meditating, doing yoga, doing pull-ups, lifting weights, playing on a playground, and much more. Jim met his goal of walking 50 steps, as shown below, at a Ragged Mountain Running Shop workout that took place during #Go50forALS week at the UVA track. View the Facebook albums of all the movement challenges here.

We received $11,000 in corporate sponsorships! Thank you to Plews Shadley Racher & Braun LLP and Wild Birds Unlimited for their support.
In total, we raised more than $90,000, blowing our original $50,000 goal out of the water! We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the support and engagement that we saw through the #Go50forALS movement challenge event. Many thanks to all who participated. We can’t wait to do it again next year!
